I am just getting back on the ponies after them having a Christmas break and us having a week in Lanzarote. I will now be full time producing this year, before starting at Myerscough in Sept to train to become a farrier.
Skellorn Prairie Starlight (Star) and Skellorn Miss Ellie (Ellie) are both still out and enjoying their winter holidays after HOYS. We will be collecting them both at the end of this month and bringing them back into work to be ready for their 1st show In March time. We will continue to have Ellie live here with us and I will produce her for the ring for Grace Litherland who is leasing Ellie for 2019 and so I am really excited to watch these two throughout the season in both the Junior and Open Classes. I am so excited for another year of fun on Star and introducing him to some novice workers.
I am lucky to have another Skellorn Pony to produce for the ring Skellorn Lucy Lou (Lucy) who I am producing for her owner and breeder Kerry Wainwright, Lucy is a 5 year old section B Mare whom I broke towards the back end of last year and she is going like a dream and will be ready for her 1st outing in February. I hope to get some novice class wins on her and a picton final ticket.
Lynuck the Moneymaker (Charlie) also had a few weeks break but is now back to it & getting ready for his Open Worker season, starting with some arena eventing at Aintree this week. This boy has taken some time to come together as he can be a mardy, but also super careful and doesn’t like to have a fence, but he is so special and I know once his confidence is at the right point, there will be no stopping him, I really want him to be on the RI & HOYS Party bus this year.
Castle Jasmine (Jasmine) a lovely connie mare owned by Katy Mickle has been spending her time training and schooling with a lot of hacking to keep her calm and relaxed ready for some novice workers this season and potentially some flat qualifiers.
Throughout Nov & Dec, I broke and schooled a lovely 4 year old fell Stallion Wansfell Flame (Flame) owned by Charlie Owen He is now due to go back to his owner anytime and she will then be campaigning this lovely boy for the novice season next year.
I also have been breaking a 3 year old section B Whispers Prince Albert (Derek) owned and bred by Margaret & Neil Sumner who will be staying with me to be produced for his jockey Grace Litherland and we are hoping to get him out to a bit of dressage taking our time to let him mature fully before he is shown on the show circuit, probably 2020 prospect.
I then also bought myself a 4 year B Byley Santiago (Bailey) straight out of the field in the very top of Scotland who I am currently breaking ready for him to hit the novice show hunter pony circuit and he will be partnered in the ring by Grace.
So in summary it is a good job, I am having a year out to concentrate on the ponies because I am mighty busy with this lot but I am so looking forward to a very exciting 2019!!
